THE UGANDAN MOTHER HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO 18 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR SUBJECTING HER TWO-YEAR-OLD BABY CRUEL INHUMAN TREATMENT

A mother was sentenced to 18 months in prison on her own guilty plea for subjecting her two-year-old baby to cruel, inhuman treatment and bodily harm in violation of Section 7(1) of the Prevention and Prohibition of Torture Act 2012

The 22-year-old Ugandan mother, Ms Dorothy Nabulime, will serve an 18-month prison sentence for cruel and inhuman treatment of her baby and a six-month sentence for causing bodily harm to the two-year-old, but the two sentences will be served concurrently, the Chief Magistrate said in court on Tuesday.

The accused has three children from three different relationships. Her first child, Kivumbi Christopher, was born from her first relationship; her second child, the victim, was born from a second relationship with a manfriend whose identity she completely refused to reveal. And her third child, a four-month-old son, is the result of her third relationship with Male Isaac. We believe her rage towards her two-year-old daughter, Gift, stems from her broken relationship with her father. Surprisingly, the suspect treats her other two children, aged 4 years and 4 months, with great care.
