THE GOVERNMENT OF ANAMBRA HAS BANNED MINISKIRTS IN SCHOOLS
The Anambra State Government has prohibited the wearing of miniskirts as a school uniform in all state schools.
Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Commissioner for Education, said in Akwa on Sunday, September 18, that the ban was necessary because schools resumed on Monday.
She stated that the ban had been communicated to the Education Secretaries of the state's public and private schools.
The commissioner condemned the growing trend of children of school age wearing miniskirts as school uniforms, calling it morally wrong and unacceptable.
"It goes against the acceptable dress code for schools in the state," she says. A student should appear smart, well-groomed, positive, and not be inappropriately dressed for school.
Knee length remains the state's acceptable length for school uniforms, not above the knee, according to the commissioner.
You are the foundation; you have control over the children's formative years. Let us instill morals and discipline in students so that they grow to be rational human beings, demonstrating to them that there is more to life. If we don't get it right now, we won't be able to protect the children's future."
