PEOPLE ARE ARRESTED AFTER THE NDLEA DISCOVERS CANNABIS HIDDEN IN CEREAL PACKS IN LAGOS

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended two freight agents at Lagos State's Murtala Muhammed International Airport with 26.20kg cannabis concealed in cereal packs.

The suspects were allegedly attempting to smuggle illegal drugs into Dubai, United Arab Emirates, via the SAHCO shed (UAE)

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the cannabis was abandoned at the shed before airport security operatives transferred it to NDLEA in a statement issued on Sunday, September 25.

Further investigation by the NDLEA resulted in the arrest on Friday of a 34-year-old man, Olatunbosun Damilola Abimbola, who works at Ashadox Logistics Services, a cargo company.

"He admitted to the crime but claimed he was acting on the orders of his Managing Director, Oloyede Shakiru Abiola, who was promptly arrested.

"The 40-year-old indigene of Oyo State's Ibadan West LGA stated that due to the NDLEA's strict security measures, he was forced to abandon the cargo to avoid detection "The statement reads.
