LAGOS COURT HAS BARRED PETER OBI SUPPORTERS FROM CONGREGATING AT THE LEKKI TOLLGATE
The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the Labour Party and its supporters not to congregate at the Lekki toll gate for the #Obidatti23 Forward Ever Rally scheduled for October 1st, 2020.
The court also ordered the Inspector General of Police and the Lagos State Police Commissioner to ensure that the order was followed.
Justice Daniel Osiagor issued these orders today while ruling on a motion for injunction filed by ten plaintiffs seeking, among other things, to prevent the LP, its presidential candidate Peter Obi, his vice Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, one Julius Abure, and their supporters from holding the rally.
The court also ruled that, while the rally cannot stop at the Lekki toll gate, it can pass through it to reach the Falomo Bridge and other locations where the rally intends to meet.
The defendants' preliminary objection, which sought to prevent the court from hearing the motion on the grounds that it lacked jurisdiction, could not be heard because all parties to the suit had not been served.
The hearing on the substantive suit has been rescheduled for November 4th.
