AHMED LAWAN: COURT AFFIRMS MACHINA AS APC’S YOBE NORTH SENATORIAL CANDIDATE6 HOURS AGO

Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, has been removed by the court as the APC senatorial candidate for Yobe North

After upholding the party's primary election on May 28, 2022, a Federal High Court in Damaturu ordered the All Progressives Congress (APC) to submit the name of Bashir Shariff Machina as the genuine candidate for Yobe North Senatorial District.

In a decision issued today in Damaturu, Justice Fadimatu Murtala declared null and void the parallel primary election held on June 9, 2022, which produced the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan.

Kolawale Balogun, counsel to the second dependent, told reporters that his client would be properly advised on the next steps.
