ALGERIA VS. NIGERIA: IWOBI EXPLAINS WHO IS TO BLAME FOR THE SUPER EAGLES' 2-1 LOSS

Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi has blamed their 2-1 loss to Algeria on centre referee Mehrez Malki and his assistants Y. Malloulchi and F. Iridi, all of whom are Tunisians.

Malki sparked outrage after ruling out a goal scored by Ademola Lookman in the first half.

If the goal had stood, Terem Moffi's opener would have put the Super Eagles up 2-0.

However, shortly before halftime, Algeria was awarded a controversial penalty, which Riyad Mahrez converted to tie the game at 1-1.

He tweeted on Wednesday: "I understand refereeing isn't easy at all & all referees should be treated with respect... But yesterday was surely questionable aha?"
