5,000 DOGS VACCINATED IN BAUCHI - BAUCHI STARE GOVERNMENT

The Bauchi government claims to have immunized 5,000 dogs against rabies across the state's 20 local governments.

On Monday, Ibrahim Bello, the director of Veterinary Services at Bauchi's agriculture ministry, revealed this.

Rabies is a deadly virus that spreads from infected animals' saliva to humans. It is usually transmitted by an animal bite.

Dogs, bats, coyotes, foxes, skunks, and raccoons are the animals most likely to spread rabies.

Mr Bello stated that the vaccination was part of a free anti-rabies vaccination campaign aimed at halting the disease's spread in Bauchi.

According to the official, the ministry will also administer the anti-rabies vaccine to another 5,000 dogs and pets in the next round of immunizations, which will begin on October 19.

He urged dog owners and pet owners to take advantage of the opportunity and have their pets vaccinated against zoonosis.
