2023: THE PDP CRISIS WORSENS AS WIKE THREATENS TO FLOG HIS OPPONENTS "PEPPERLY"

As the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, continues its intra-party crisis, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said he will flog his political opponents 'pepperly' in the 2023 general elections.

He declared that he would never leave anything to God.

Wike made the statement in response to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's advice to leave all perceived political wrongs against him to God during a State function in Umuahia, Abia State's capital.

It should be noted that Wike has been at odds with the PDP national leadership since his failed presidential bid.

He ran for the PDP presidential ticket but lost to the party's current presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The final straw, however, was Atiku's unilateral selection of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate, despite the Special PDP selection committee's recommendation of Wike as running mate.

The ensuing controversy and failed attempts at reconciliation have harmed the PDP's unity ahead of the general elections scheduled for February of next year.

Wike has stated his demands for reconciliation, including the removal of the party's national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, but compliance appears difficult.

Wike has refused to change his stance, insisting, "God has given me what it takes to crush my enemies; I'm going to flog them pepperily."
