OLOSHO WAS DETAINED FOR SELLING HER NEWBORN CHILD FOR N600K
Police officers in Ogun State have detained Mary Olatayo, a 23-year-old commercial sex worker, for reportedly selling her newborn child for N600,000.
t was reported that the suspect and her friend and co-conspirator, Chioma Esther Ogbonna, were both apprehended on August 18, 2022.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the command's spokeswoman, said in a statement on Thursday, August 25, that the suspect was detained as a result of a complaint from the baby's father, who informed the Mowe Divisional Police Headquarters that Olatayo became pregnant after he started dating her and that he rented an apartment for her, where she lived until she gave birth to a boy.
"He further reported that the woman abruptly left the flat with the child three weeks after giving birth, only to be discovered in a hotel where she was supposedly having a "hookup" with another man. He claimed that every endeavor to locate the infant was futile.
During questioning, Olatayo admitted to the police that she had sold the infant for N600,000 to a person in Anambra State. She admitted that her friend Chioma Esther Ogbonna had introduced her to the Anambra State customer, and the two of them had split the proceeds 50-50. Ogbonna was detained as a result of her confession, and he also supported Olatayo's assertions.
Further research found that Olatayo, a resident of Omu-Aran in Kwara State, is a call girl who views the child as a disruption to her career and hence planned to get rid of the child, according to the statement.
