POLICE OFFICER DISMISSED FOR KILLING 5 PEOPLE IN ENUGU STATE


The police command in Enugu says it has dismissed Edem Ebong, a police inspector, for his alleged involvement in the killing of five persons in the state.

Recall that four persons also sustained in feries during the incident which occurred on June 20, 2021, at Gold estate in Enugu In a statement on Friday, Daniel Ndukwe, Enugu police spokesperson, said the prosecution of the dismissed officer has also been approved.

The police commended members of the public for their patience and understanding during the period of investigation. "The Enugu State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the assistant inspector general of police in charge of Zone 13, Ukpo Dunukofia Anambra State, AIG Muri Umar Musa, has approved the recommended punishment of dismissal from the Nigeria Police Force and prosecution of Inspector Edem Ebong, hither to attacked to Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 9 Umuahia, for the offence of murder.

The approval is sequel to the command's conclusion of disciplinary trial and thorough investigation launched into the case of alleged shooting and killing of five persons, as well as the injury of four others for no justifiable reasons, by the Police Inspector, at Gold Estate Enugu, on 20/06/2021, the statement read.
