Preserved historical artwork. Below are some ancient Igbo utensils from Eastern Nigeria present day Igboland dating as far as 19th century (1910-11).
The first items above are referred to as "Ngwa Ngwa" and "Ókû Mmanya" which are known as palm wine cup and calabash in English.
And above is spoon referred to as "Ñgajì" in Igbo land. The spoon was used to serve and prepare meals as well as enjoy them.
About the bowls above, they appeared in different sizes and are referred to "Okù Mmà " in Igbo. There are some other part of the land that calls it "Oku Nni" meaning "special plate for food. . ." - to mean special bowls for dishes. The smaller one can be used to serve soups in their variety.
Notice their beautiful artistry and unique size and then imagine how it was before the advent of modernity. History and culturally preserved items. Beauty unspoilt. Culture represented in simplicity.
