Report, stats and highlights as Galatasaray beat Stuttgart 2-0 in the Champions League League Phase, with Batrakov scoring both goals at Rams Park.

Batrakov inspires Galatasaray to victory over Stuttgart as unbeaten run continues...

The hosts headed into the clash on the back of four consecutive wins across all competitions, including a 4-2 triumph over Lille that ended a six-game winless streak in this competition, and they started the opening period full of confidence.

Admittedly, Galatasaray were fortunate not to be trailing inside 10 minutes when Jamie Leweling’s strike cannoned off both posts before spinning away to safety, but their relentless intensity soon had Stuttgart on the ropes.

The breakthrough came shortly after, as Alexey Batrakov lashed the ball into the roof of the net after it broke kindly for him inside the box.

Leweling was presented with another golden chance from almost the same spot as his earlier miss, yet he dragged his effort off target once again, and his profligacy was punished almost immediately as Gala doubled their advantage.

It was Batrakov again who delivered the blow, latching onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Davinson Sanchez before calmly slotting between the legs of Fabian Bredlow.

As the second half wore on, Galatasaray sat deeper and deeper, with Stuttgart pushing desperately for a route back into the contest.

They thought they had halved the deficit when Fuhrich curled a sublime 20-yard effort into the bottom corner after Undav's strike had crashed back off the crossbar, but the goal was ruled out with Undav having been offside in the build-up.

Already hampered by injuries to key players such as Angelo Stiller and Josha Vagnoman, Stuttgart faded in the closing stages, although Cakir still had to produce an important save to deny substitute Dzenan Pejcinovic.

In the end, Galatasaray held firm to secure back-to-back Champions League victories and climb into the top 24 of the League Phase.

For Sebastian Hoeness' side, meanwhile, it was a first defeat in the competition this season, as they became the first German team to lose away at Galatasaray since 1992.
