Calgary Flames move to 7-2-0 in last nine after 0-5-0 start as Dustin Wolf makes 26 saves...
The Boston Bruins stayed dominant on home ice by holding off the Vegas Golden Knights, while the Detroit Red Wings shocked divisional rivals Florida Panthers with a five-goal display.
Bruins outlast Golden Knights in shootout to stay hot at home
The Boston Bruins (11-4-1) continue their strong start to the 2026/27 season, and with a 7-1-0 record at home, they are well-placed to make a real run in a stacked Atlantic Division. On Monday, they took on the Vegas Golden Knights (9-5-2) and struck early through James Hagens and Morgan Geekie, but the visitors hit back via Mark Stone and Trevor Connelly to force overtime at 2-2.
After a scoreless five-minute overtime period, the first five shootout attempts were denied before David Pastrnak stepped up to seal the win, keeping Boston red-hot on home ice with a hard-fought victory over an impressive Vegas side.
Red Wings stun Panthers with explosive third period
The Detroit Red Wings (7-5-3) have been one of the big surprises of 2026/27 so far, and despite two off-ice issues lingering, they were excellent on the ice Monday with a major upset of divisional rival Florida Panthers (8-5-2). After two periods locked at 2-2, Detroit took over in the final frame with goals from Justin Faulk, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard and Emmitt Finnie to seal a 5-3 win on the road.
It was another tough night for Jacob Markstrom, who gave up four goals on 28 shots, and while Florida has made a solid start to 2026/27, the defeat drops them to 3-2-0 at home. The Red Wings, meanwhile, improve to 3-1-2 on the road, earning points in five of their six away games this season.
Avalanche storm back from two-goal deficit to down Blackhawks
Despite boasting one of the deepest rosters in the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche (9-5-1) haven't hit top form consistently this season, but they are finding their rhythm lately, as shown Monday against the Chicago Blackhawks (4-10-1). Chicago jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Colorado responded in emphatic fashion, with Jaden Schwartz and Nazem Kadri both scoring twice before Devon Toews capped it off with an empty-net goal.

Mackenzie Blackwood settled after a shaky start, stopping 21 of 23 shots, while the Blackhawks slipped to 4-5-0 at home. It is shaping up to be another difficult season for the Original Six franchise.
Wolf shines as Flames continue resurgence against Sharks
The Calgary Flames (7-8-0) have been one of the biggest surprises of the early season, and after opening 0-5-0, they beat the San Jose Sharks (7-8-1) to improve to 7-2-0 in their last nine. Dustin Wolf was the standout, stopping 26 of 27 shots, while Adam Klapka contributed a goal and an assist as Calgary ground out just its second road win of the campaign.
Yaroslav Askarov was also impressive for San Jose, saving 20 of 22 shots faced, but Sam Dickinson's late third-period goal was all the Sharks could muster as their offense fell short.
