Man Utd's winless away run goes on after Leeds draw. Leeds fight back to hold Man United 1-1 at Elland Road...

Leeds United extended their unbeaten home run in the Premier League to eight matches as they came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with bitter rivals Manchester United, who are still without an away win this season.

It was a blood-and-thunder start to one of English football's fiercest rivalries, with a flurry of early yellow cards providing the entertainment in the opening 20 minutes.

It took a while for either side to find any rhythm going forward, but once they did, they traded chances midway through the first half.

Leeds created the first big opening when Anton Stach's pinpoint delivery found an unmarked Nico Elvedi six yards out, but his downward header bounced into the ground before Senne Lammens palmed it to safety.

An even bigger chance fell to the visitors seconds later at the other end, as Youri Tielemans curled a cross onto the head of an unmarked Bryan Mbeumo. It looked certain the Cameroonian would steer his header into the corner, but he somehow diverted his effort wide.

He more than made amends for that miss on 35 minutes, though, when clever movement inside the box saw him steal in behind James Justin to guide another pinpoint Tielemans delivery into the corner.

Given United's current predicament, they were never likely to sit comfortably, and their worst fears were realised six minutes after the restart.

There was a real simplicity to the equaliser, too, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin was quickest to react to Tarik Muharemovic's knockdown, sweeping home to leave United shell-shocked.

Leeds continued to push for a first lead, but half-chances came and went as Ao Tanaka and Anton Stach fired wild efforts off target.

The best chance for a third goal fell to Bruno Fernandes, whose heavy touch inadvertently opened up space for him to flash an effort narrowly wide.

Perhaps due to the high stakes, neither side pushed hard for a late winner.

United boss Michael Carrick did make an attacking change by bringing on Matheus Cunha, but it was too late for him to make a meaningful impact as the game fizzled out into a stalemate a result enough to stretch United's unbeaten head-to-head run at Elland Road to eight matches.
