Seahawks rally from 14-3 down but fall to Broncos 17-14 in overtime thriller...

Denver's defense stole the show in a low-scoring overtime thriller against Seattle.

Wil Lutz drilled the game-winning field goal in overtime as the Denver Broncos capitalized on a late interception to knock off the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, 17-14, on Thursday.

In a defensive battle in Denver, the Seahawks erased a 14-3 deficit in the fourth quarter with 11 unanswered points to force overtime.

Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold, bottled up all night by Denver's defense and sacked five times, was intercepted by Ja'Quan McMillian on the opening possession of overtime to set up the decisive field goal.

It wasn't pretty for Denver offensively. Quarterback Bo Nix completed 17 of 27 passes for just 107 yards, and the Broncos managed only 30 yards and two first downs in the entire second half.

Their game-winning overtime drive gained just eight yards, but that was all they needed. Denver improved to 4-2 while Seattle slipped to 3-3.

Darnold finished 27-of-51 for 278 yards as Seattle dropped its second straight game after losing to San Francisco on Sunday.

Darnold led an 11-play, 67-yard drive capped by running back George Holani's one-yard touchdown run plus Darnold's two-point conversion pass to trim the deficit to 14-11 with 3:37 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Denver looked to have sealed it when Kris Abrams-Draine picked off Darnold with 1:25 left in regulation.

But the Broncos were forced to punt, and Seattle's Jason Myers nailed a 34-yard field goal to tie the game with just three seconds left.

Darnold's second interception of the night ultimately ended Seattle's comeback hopes.

“We have to take care of the ball. Sam knows that,” Seattle coach Mike Macdonald said. “I'm proud of our effort, of everyone involved in the team. I'm proud of the connectedness of our team.

“However, there are things we need to get better at quickly.

“We know those things. They're in our control ... we have some work ahead of us, and we'll figure it out.”
