Farjestad needed penalties to overcome Lulea as Frolunda and Malmo earned shutouts.

SHL leaders Farjestad extended their winning streak to seven games but required a shootout to get past Lulea, while Frolunda and Malmo bounced back with convincing shutout victories and Timra secured another win.

Farjestad had won their previous six games in regulation during this run, but had to settle for two points at home against Lulea, who pushed the league leaders all the way despite sitting eighth and going winless in their last three.

The only two goals of the game came just two minutes apart in the second period - Christoffer Jansson put the hosts ahead on the powerplay, before Joona Koppanen equalised shortly after Lulea returned to full strength. Despite outshooting the visitors 32 to 14, Farjestad were unable to break through again in regulation or overtime.

FBK eventually settled it in the shootout, with the first nine attempts missed before Jack Berglund scored to clinch a 2-1 sudden-death victory.

Frolunda had seen a six-game unbeaten start followed by back-to-back defeats, but returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over bottom-placed Linkoping. The visitors struck once in each period through Erik Thorell, Jacob Peterson and Max Friberg, while Tobias Normann made 20 saves for the shutout. The Gothenburg outfit closed the gap on Farjestad to four points.

Malmo also posted a shutout, bouncing back from a 6-2 defeat at FBK to thrash Orebro 6-0 for their third win in four, while the visitors have now lost four of their last five. Carl Persson completed a hat-trick by the 37th minute, with Janne Kuokkanen, Peter Diliberatore and Oscar Eklind adding the other goals. Marek Langhamer needed just 14 saves. The result lifted the Redhawks to seventh, above Orebro, who dropped to ninth.

Timra came from behind in the third period to beat HV71 2-1 in overtime, with Dylan McLaughlin netting the winner for their third straight victory to move level with HV on nine points. With three of their four wins this season coming in overtime, Timra remain below the relegation line, with HV just above it.

At the other end of the table, Skelleftea climbed to third after a 2-1 win over Vaxjo, who are also on nine points. The reigning champions moved above IF Bjorkloven, who suffered a 2-1 defeat to Rogle, who held on to their top-six spot. Brynas stay fifth after Jaret Anderson-Dolan scored an overtime winner in a 3-2 victory over Djurgarden.
