Lukas Hornicek joins Newcastle from Braga...
Newcastle United announced on Monday that they’ve signed Czech goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek from Braga on a five-year contract.
The 24-year-old made his senior debut for the Czech Republic in May and joins the Premier League club for a reported fee of €30.6 million.
Hornicek joins Newcastle off the back of a standout season with Braga, where he helped the side reach the Europa League semi-finals. He led all goalkeepers in the competition with seven clean sheets.
He first arrived at Braga on loan from Czech side Pardubice in 2019, before making the switch permanent. By 2025 he had locked down the No.1 spot at the Portuguese club.
The goalkeeper was also named in the Czech Republic squad for the World Cup in North America, though he didn’t play as the team were knocked out in the group stage.
“The last few days have been an emotional rollercoaster from when I first heard about the move, and now I'm so happy to be here,” Hornicek said in a statement.
Newcastle United are delighted to announce the signing of Czech Republic international goalkeeper Lukáš Horníček from Portuguese side SC Braga.
