Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Tuesday that starting pitcher Trey Yesavage had surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee.

Yesavage was already on the 15-day injured list with a week-to-week timeline. But with Toronto trailing five teams for the AL’s final wild-card spot, the 23-year-old right-hander could now be done for the rest of the season.

The right-hander was Toronto’s first-round pick in the 2024 Draft. This season he’s 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA in 18 starts, striking out 91 and walking 46 over 93 2/3 innings.

Yesavage debuted in 2025, going 1-0 with a 3.21 ERA in three starts as the Blue Jays made it to the World Series. In that postseason run he appeared in six games with five starts, finishing 3-1 and posting a 3.58 ERA.

Yesavage’s final outing was on August 4. He was pulled after just two innings.

It’s a tough stretch for Toronto with the rotation thinning out. Kevin Gausman was dealt to the Chicago Cubs at the trade deadline, and Jameson Taillon was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, leaving the Jays short on starting pitching depth.
