Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia and Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador fought back from a set down to beat Australians Storm Hunter and Marc Polmans 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 on Thursday and win the Wimbledon mixed doubles title.
The Australians made the fast start, earning an early break to claim the opener and keeping Ostapenko and Arevalo on the back foot early in the second.
The second seeds gradually found their rhythm, lifting their game at key moments and closing strongly to flip the match and claim their first Wimbledon title.
“I was frustrated after losing my serve in the first set, but I calmed myself down and told myself to keep fighting until the last point. Marcelo was very positive, and that helped us a lot,” Ostapenko said.

Arevalo, a two-time French Open men’s doubles champion, became the first player from El Salvador to win a Wimbledon title. Ostapenko added another major to her collection, which already includes the 2017 French Open singles and the 2024 US Open women’s doubles titles.
“Winning this title means a lot. I want to continue to inspire kids in my country that if you put in the effort and believe in your dreams, you can achieve great things in life,” Arevalo said.
