Taylor Fritz dominated Bublik with 47 winners to reach the Wimbledon last eight again, continuing his bid for a maiden Grand Slam title.

Taylor Fritz booked his place in the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the fourth time in five years on Monday, sweeping past Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in straight sets in the last 16.

The world No.6, who lost to Carlos Alcaraz in last year’s semi-finals, seized control with a one-sided first-set tie-break and went on to win 7-6(1), 6-4, 6-4.

Fritz will now play either French Open winner Alexander Zverev or Czech 13th seed Jiri Lehecka for a spot in the semi-finals.

*Fritz needed just 1 hour and 39 minutes to beat Bublik on Court One. “When you have two guys who are serving big, with quick points, it's going to come down to these key moments in the match and I thought I dealt with it really well,” he said.

Fritz fired 23 aces and 47 winners past Bublik, who looked deflated by the end after failing to find any rhythm against the American’s serve.

Fritz leads Zverev 10-5 head-to-head and has also come out on top in four of his six matches against Lehecka.

At 28, Fritz is still chasing his first Grand Slam title. His best shot so far came in the 2024 US Open final, where he was beaten by Jannik Sinner.

Fritz has pushed for a Wimbledon title run in recent years too. In 2022 he lost a five-set quarter-final thriller to an injured Rafael Nadal, who pulled out of the tournament after that match.
