Tomas Araujo ruled out of Uzbekistan clash after skipping training due to injury.

Portugal held their last training session in Palm Beach on Monday ahead of the World Cup 2026 group stage match against Uzbekistan. Tomas Araujo was absent again and didn’t join his teammates on the pitch.

The Benfica centre-back has been sitting out recent sessions with an injury and kept up his rehab away from the squad. With his return to group training only planned for Wednesday, he’ll miss the game against Uzbekistan.

Ruben Dias, meanwhile, took part in the full session with no limits. The Manchester City defender sat out the opener, but he’s now in line to start at centre-back.

In the 15 minutes media were allowed to watch, the squad ran through their standard warm-ups with and without the ball. The four goalkeepers worked separately in a session held under intense heat.

The Portugal team will head to Houston later on Monday. That’s where Tuesday’s 19:00 CET kickoff against Uzbekistan will take place.
