Reports claim Pogon Szczecin have moved on from Thomas Thomasberg and already have ex-Ajax manager Oscar Garcia lined up as successor.

Pogon Szczecin sack Thomas Thomasberg to close a turbulent spell in Polish football...

Polish Ekstraklasa side Pogoń Szczecin have dismissed Danish coach Thomas Thomasberg, with the club confirming the move on its official website.

“Today I have made the difficult decision to dismiss Thomas Thomasberg from his duties as head coach of Pogon Szczecin,” says club president Alex Haditaghi.

Polish outlet Meczyki reports that Pogoń already have a successor lined up for the Dane.

The outlet says Spanish manager Oscar Garcia - who just left Ajax - is lined up to take over in Szczecin. Ajax confirmed they had parted company with the former Brighton and Watford boss after a short spell in Amsterdam.

Pogon and Thomasberg are reported to have finished ninth in Poland's top flight. He was unveiled as head coach at the end of September, which left him with fewer than nine months in the post. Public records show he only joined the club in September 2025.

He had been sacked by FC Midtjylland the previous August, with the Danish club said to have turned to Mike Tullberg as his successor. Before Midtjylland, Thomasberg is credited with a five-year stint at Randers FC.
