Anderlecht have appointed Vitor Bruno as their new head coach ahead of the new season. The 43-year-old Portuguese arrived in Brussels and signed a two-year deal with the Belgian giants. He replaces Jeremy Taravel, who stays at the club but returns to his assistant coach role.

Flashscore reported earlier that Vitor Bruno would take charge at Anderlecht, and the move is now confirmed.

After leaving FC Porto, where he took charge for 29 official games and won the Supertaca Candido de Oliveira, Vítor Bruno now starts his first big solo job abroad.

Before stepping up as Porto’s head coach, he spent 15 years as Sergio Conceicao’s assistant. During that time he worked at SC Braga, Vitoria SC, Nantes, and Porto, helping win three Primeira Liga titles, four Portuguese Cups, and three Super Cups.

Vítor Bruno won’t arrive in Belgium on his own. He’s bringing a coaching team with deep ties to Porto’s Olival training base. Vitor Gouveia and Nuno Piloto come in as assistant coaches, with Pedro Oliveira taking fitness duties and Luis Ferreira working with the goalkeepers.

Meanwhile, Naim Aarab and Andreas Patz are exiting Anderlecht’s staff, and Arnaud Djoum will move down to coach the Under-18s.

Sibierski: Bruno fits Anderlecht’s football vision

Anderlecht sporting director Antoine Sibierski explained the choice of the Portuguese coach by pointing to the specific profile the board wanted for the club.

The idea is modern, attractive and dominant football,” with Vítor Bruno seen as the manager to deliver that style.

“We carried out a very thorough process to hire the right coach and technical staff who would fit the club's ambitions. With the appointment of Vitor Bruno, RSCA has chosen a head coach who stands for modern, attractive and dominant football. He is also known for his demanding approach, winning mentality and work ethic,” Sibierski emphasized.
