Richarlison nets historic 2,000th goal for Tottenham

The forward scored Spurs’ milestone goal in the London derby, continuing his best scoring run for the club.

His 12th goal of the season made him the scorer of Spurs’ 2,000th Premier League strike and matched his best return for the club...

Richarlison etched his name into Tottenham Hotspur history by netting the club’s 2,000th Premier League goal. The milestone came during Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian forward scored with just over 15 minutes left on the clock. He reacted fastest to Pape Matar Sarr’s clever backheel, pulling Spurs back into the game after they had trailed 2-0 and giving them a brief chance at a comeback.

Despite the milestone, Tottenham could not find an equaliser before full time.

Spurs are now only the sixth club to reach 2,000 Premier League goals since the league started in 1992.

Tottenham’s first Premier League goal was scored by Gordon Durie in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in August 1992. Since then, Les Ferdinand, Jermain Defoe, and Juan Foyth have netted the club’s 500th, 1,000th, and 1,500th goals respectively.

Richarlison’s goal also capped a strong season for the forward. He now has 12 goals across all competitions, with 11 of them coming in the Premier League. That matches his best scoring tally for Tottenham.

Across his career, Richarlison has scored 75 Premier League goals in total.
