Sweden goes 3-0 at Czech Hockey Games Ahead of World Championship...

Sweden completed a 3-0 run at the 2026 Czech Hockey Games, coming back to beat Finland 3-2 for the title at Budvar Arena in Ceske Budejovice.

The event featured Europe’s top 4 ranked teams and served as a tune-up for the IIHF World Championship later this month. Both Sweden and Finland were missing players still tied up with their club seasons.

Sweden entered the finale off an 8-1 rout of Switzerland and a 4-2 win over the Czech Republic. Finland had lost 3-2 to the Czechs and beaten Switzerland 5-3, so only a 5-goal victory would let them pass Sweden for the tournament title.

Finland grabbed the lead 16 minutes in through Eemil Erholtz, but Sweden took over in the second period. Liam Ohgren, Andre Petersson, and Karl Henriksson scored 3 unanswered goals to put Tre Kronor in control.

Leijonat cut it to 3-2 on a power play in the final minute after Roni Hirvonen scored on Henriksson’s tripping penalty. It was too late to change the outcome. Sweden held on in the closing seconds for a 3-2 win and 9 points from 3 games.

In the other game, Switzerland edged the Czech Republic in a shootout. The result left the hosts second with 4 points, 1 ahead of Finland. Switzerland finished last with 2 points.
