Brondby have dismissed head coach Steve Cooper with immediate effect after a disappointing campaign in the Danish Superliga.
The club confirmed it has ended its working relationship with Cooper, and assistant coach Alan Tate will also depart.
The Danish club has appointed Julius Ohnesorge as its new director of football.
Cooper took charge at Brondby in September last year. During his time in charge the team had inconsistent results and ended the Superliga season in fourth place.
Cooper’s final game was a 1-3 loss to FC Copenhagen after extra time. The defeat meant Brondby missed out on Conference League qualification for next season.
Scott McLachlan, vice chairman of Brondby’s board, said on the club’s website that results and performances led to the decision.
“By hiring Steve, we made a choice that we both believed and hoped could lift the club to a new level. We have done so in several aspects, but neither the results nor the performances on the pitch have followed suit. That is why we have chosen to say goodbye to both Steve and Alan today,” McLachlan tells the club's website
Cooper managed Brondby for 28 matches. Before joining the Danish club, he worked as manager at English sides Leicester and Nottingham Forest.

His record at Brondby ended with 10 wins, 6 draws, and 12 defeats.
Brondby is also restructuring its sporting leadership. Julius Ohnesorge, who has served as technical director since summer 2025, will step up to become football director.
He replaces Benjamin Schmedes, who has already announced he will take on a new role as sporting director for the German league organization, the DFL.
