Rashford scores first El Clasico free-kick for Barcelona since Messi...

Marcus Rashford broke Barcelona’s 14-year wait for a direct free-kick goal in El Clasico with a brilliant strike against Real Madrid on Sunday night.

The England forward curled the ball into the top left corner, giving Thibaut Courtois no chance and putting the Catalans ahead in the 9th minute.

With that goal, Rashford became the first Barcelona player to score a direct free-kick in El Clásico since Lionel Messi did so in October 2012.

Ferran Torres made it 2-0 for the Blaugrana in the 18th minute, pushing the Camp Nou side closer to a 29th La Liga title.

The strike was Rashford’s eighth of the 2025/26 season, following his previous goal in Barcelona’s 2-0 win away at Getafe.
