New York Knicks Cruise Past 76ers to Reach Conference Finals

New York sweeps Philadelphia, returns to Conference finals

The Knicks' 25 three-pointers tied a playoff record as they beat the 76ers for the second straight year in the conference semis, ending Philly's season.

Fueled by Miles McBride and Jalen Brunson’s shooting, the Knicks close out Philadelphia in four games and move one step closer to the NBA Finals...

Behind a barrage of three-pointers, the New York Knicks routed the Philadelphia 76ers 144-114 on Sunday to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

New York matched a playoff record with 11 triples in the opening quarter and tied the mark again with 18 before halftime, jumping out early and extending their postseason win streak to seven games.

The Knicks finished with 25 threes, tying another playoff record, as they completed a 4-0 sweep of Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference semifinals. It marks their second straight trip to the conference finals after a 24-year drought.

New York will now face either the top-seeded Detroit Pistons or the fourth-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers for a spot in the NBA Finals.

“One game at a time,” Knicks star Jalen Brunson said after New York handed the 76ers another home loss to close out the series.

Miles McBride hit seven threes and led all scorers with 25 points, while Brunson added 22 points on six makes from deep.

Six Knicks finished in double figures, and the team didn’t seem to miss OG Anunoby, who sat out a second straight game with a hamstring strain.

Looking to close it out, New York came out firing, knocking down 11 of 13 threes in the first quarter on their way to 43 points.

During a timeout, Philadelphia coach Nick Nurse urged his team to keep their heads up and “play harder.”

But with their own Xfinity Mobile Arena overrun by loud Knicks supporters, the 76ers had no response.

Heading into halftime down 81-57, Philadelphia watched New York tie the playoff record with 18 threes in a single half.

The game was effectively decided by then. The Knicks stretched the lead to 44 points and sat their starters for the fourth quarter.

Playing through hip and ankle injuries suffered after an April appendectomy, Joel Embiid shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the field and went 6-for-7 from the line, finishing with 24 points to lead Philadelphia.

Tyrese Maxey chipped in 17 points. Despite upsetting the No. 2 seed Boston Celtics in round one, the Sixers haven’t made it past the second round since 2001.
