MLB suspended Milwaukee Brewers reliever Abner Uribe for one game Friday after he threw a WWE Degeneration X crotch chop during Tuesday’s win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

The 25-year-old Dominican righty was also hit with an undisclosed fine. He aimed the celebration at St. Louis’ dugout right after striking out the side to end the eighth inning.

St. Louis had two runners on when Alec Burleson was called out on strikes to end the eighth.

Uribe then turned to the Cardinals dugout and flashed three DX “crotch chops” before heading to Milwaukee’s bench.

The Cardinals asked for a replay review on the strike call, but the call stood after the challenge.

“It's just unacceptable,” said Brewers manager Pat Murphy. “I don't know what got over him. He has been an emotional guy but that's just not how we do things. I was embarrassed by it. Why are we doing it? It's a 6-0 game. Must be something deeper I don't know about. Can't tolerate that.”

Uribe was suspended four games in 2024 after throwing a punch at Rays outfielder José Siri that sparked a benches-clearing brawl.

He apologized to the Brewers and his teammates after Tuesday’s game, but didn’t apologize to the Cardinals.

“Everyone here knows me and knows I have a history of being emotional out there,” Uribe said through a translator. “I owe an apology to the Brewers, to my teammates, my manager, and all the bosses of the team. I understand that's unacceptable to go out there and react in a way like that.”

Uribe got a four-game ban in 2024 after throwing a punch at Tampa Bay’s Jose Siri that set off a benches-clearing fight.

After Tuesday’s game he said sorry to the Brewers and his teammates, but he didn’t apologize to St. Louis.

Uribe said Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol was signaling St. Louis pitchers to throw at Milwaukee hitters.

“I don't think it's professional for their manager to be making signs at our dugout saying he's going to be hitting guys,” Uribe said. “I have my teammates' back always.”

Uribe is 2-2 with a 4.19 ERA and 21 strikeouts this year. He was set to sit out Friday’s game in Houston, but he filed an appeal. His suspension won’t take effect until MLB rules on it.
