The Arsenal head coach capped off a historic title-winning season with the league’s top managerial honor.
Six and a half years after taking over, Arteta has restored Arsenal to the top and been recognized as the league’s top manager...
Mikel Arteta has been named Premier League Manager of the Season after leading Arsenal to the league title.
Arsenal clinched their first Premier League championship in 22 years, finishing seven points ahead of main rivals Manchester City.
Arteta won the award ahead of Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Sunderland’s Regis Le Bris, both of whom guided their teams into European competition.
He took charge of Arsenal at what was arguably their lowest point in December 2019, and over the past six and a half years has rebuilt them into a genuine title contender.
After lifting the trophy at Crystal Palace on Sunday, Arteta said: “The fans have been waiting for this for so long.
“We have had some difficult moments along the way but all of them are worth it when you see that kind of reaction.
“We showed an incredible connection, an incredible commitment and incredible courage as well. Everything around us was fuel for the desire to go and do it.
“There are doubts and the understanding that maybe you are not the right person. But thanks to God that we have done it. I feel a lot of joy and a lot of relief as well.”
