Bayern brush aside Stuttgart 3-0 to win German Cup and end dominant season...
Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as Bayern Munich capped a dominant domestic season with a 3-0 win over VfB Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal final. The victory gave Bayern the cup for the first time since 2020 and took their total to 139 goals across the league and cup this season, setting a new record.
Berlin’s Olympic Park provided the stage for the final act of the German football season. It featured the defending cup holders against the Bundesliga champions, who had set a record with 122 league goals.
Stuttgart looked the more determined side in the early exchanges and seemed eager to retain their title. Deniz Undav forced Jonas Urbig into a straightforward save, and Maximilian Mittelstadt then shot low from distance. Urbig stretched to his left to tip the effort wide.
The last two DFB-Pokal finals had each included a team from outside Germany’s top division. Bayern presented a different test, with their entire starting outfield expected to play at this summer’s World Cup.
All of Stuttgart’s early control counted for little when Bayern stirred late in the half. Josip Stanisic’s long-range strike forced Alexander Nubel into a strong save.
Bayern carried that momentum into the break, but the first half finished 0-0. It was only the second time in the last 10 Pokal finals that the opening 45 minutes ended goalless.
The usual post-interval pyrotechnics turned the Olympiastadion into a smoking cauldron of noise and color as the players returned. Bayern took immediate advantage of the moment.
Michael Olise surged down the right and delivered a looping cross onto Kane’s head. The striker leapt forward and nodded into an open net.
Visibility worsened after the goal and led to a lengthy stoppage. When play resumed, Bayern stayed on the attack. Konrad Laimer somehow skewed his shot high after Luis Diaz’s curled effort rebounded straight to him.

Stuttgart struggled to respond. Kane sealed the win with 10 minutes left, turning sharply in the center of the area and firing a low finish past the keeper.
There was still time for one final twist, and it went Bayern’s way. Angelo Stiller handled the ball in the area, and Kane converted the penalty. With that goal, he became the first player to score a hat-trick in a Pokal final since Robert Lewandowski in 2012.
Bayern cruised to their 21st cup title in just 26 final appearances, at least 15 more than any other club. Stuttgart gave up the trophy, but their fans can take consolation in the fact that the team will return to the UEFA Champions League next season.
