Danish coach Jens Berthel Askou, 43, has left Scottish club Motherwell to take charge at Toulouse. The French club confirmed the appointment on Thursday, with Askou replacing Spaniard Carles MartÃnez Novell, 42.

During his time at Motherwell, Askou guided the side to fourth place in the Scottish Premiership. He now joins Toulouse on a deal, with the length of the contract not made public.
Before moving to Scotland, Askou worked as a coach in Denmark and the Faroe Islands. His most notable success came in 2020 when he led HB Torshavn to both the league title and the cup.
He has also served as an assistant at Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic and at FC Copenhagen in Denmark. In Sweden, he was head coach of IFK Göteborg.
Toulouse ended the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season in 10th place. The campaign finished last weekend.
