The draw leaves Elfsborg level on points with Hacken and two points ahead of Mjallby, with Sirius still top of the Allsvenskan...
Mjallby scored early in the second half to avoid back-to-back Allsvenskan losses and stop Elfsborg from moving up to second place.
Elfsborg Stumble as Mjallby Secure Draw
Hammarby’s loss to GAIS the previous day opened the door for Elfsborg to move a point ahead of the Stockholm club and close in on league leaders Sirius. That looked likely early on when the Boras side took the lead in the seventh minute.
Julius Magnusson’s shot hit the inside of the post and fell to Simon Hedlund on the right side of the box. Hedlund waited before laying the ball across to Leo Ostman, who directed a near-post effort past the goalkeeper.
Mjallby had a couple of chances before half time through Jesper Gustavsson and Teo Helge, but neither tested Isak Pettersson in the Elfsborg goal. The visitors managed just one more shot on target in the second half, and it was enough to equalize.

After good build-up play down the left, Ludwig Thorell played the ball across the edge of the area to Jeppe Kjaer, who fired in his second league goal of the season.
Elfsborg stay fourth on 16 points, behind Hacken on goal difference. MAIF sit fifth, two points further back.
