Iraola set for Crystal Palace move after rejecting AC Milan job

The Bournemouth manager, who guided the Cherries to Europe, is Palace’s No. 1 choice after refusing a new deal and announcing his exit in April.

With Glasner stepping down, Crystal Palace are closing in on Bournemouth’s Iraola, whose tactical approach has attracted interest from Chelsea and AC Milan...

Reports suggest Andoni Iraola has turned down AC Milan, with Crystal Palace now targeting the Spaniard to take over from Oliver Glasner.

The Bournemouth manager appears on track to become Crystal Palace’s next head coach.

Crystal Palace lifted the Conference League trophy following a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday night, in what marked Glasner’s last match at the helm.

With Glasner departing, Palace’s board are considering all candidates as they aim to capitalize on the FA Cup and European success achieved over the last two seasons.

Iraola declined to extend his contract at Bournemouth and confirmed in April that he would exit at season’s end, sparking speculation about a move further south when the campaign finished.

According to The Sun, Iraola is Palace’s top choice, while GIVEMESPORT reports the Spaniard is expected to join the Eagles after rejecting AC Milan earlier this month.

This season, the Bournemouth boss guided his team into Europe and secured their highest-ever Premier League finish.

Chelsea had considered hiring Iraola before opting for Xabi Alonso earlier this month, a sign that elite clubs rate his abilities and tactical style.

Four years ago Bournemouth were in the Championship, and 17 years ago they were close to bankruptcy. Their remarkable rise has been driven in part by Iraola, making him a manager the Palace board are clearly eager to appoint.
