Inter avoid defeat as Bologna miss Out on Europe. Dimarco free-kick and late Diouf strike seal Inter’s 3-3 Draw...

Inter Milan closed out their Serie A title-winning campaign with a 3-3 draw away to Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. The result extended their unbeaten run to 12 games, with seven wins and five draws.

With little at stake for either side, the first half still delivered plenty of entertainment and three goals. Federico Dimarco looked lively from the start and forced Łukasz Skorupski into a save from the edge of the box, though the goalkeeper handled it comfortably.

Skorupski had no chance a few minutes later when Dimarco curled a sumptuous free-kick into the top corner. That goal gave the champions the lead midway through the first half.

Bologna hit back almost immediately. Federico Bernardeschi poked the ball home after it broke kindly to him in the box.

Both sides had chances to go ahead before the break. Stefan de Vrij’s header from a corner looped onto the roof of the net. Remo Freuler fired a half-volley over from close range, and Jonathan Rowe found only the side netting from a tight angle.

Bologna kept pressing and turned the game around before half-time. Tommaso Pobega’s volley from the edge of the area took a deflection off Lautaro Martinez and went in. Unlucky for the Inter striker, who is used to scoring at the other end.

Inter fell further behind shortly into the second half. Piotr Zielinski unfortunately diverted a cutback from the left into his own net.

Bologna had the momentum and Federico Bernardeschi nearly made it 4-1. He cut inside and shot toward goal, but Josep Martínez got behind it. Inter still carried a threat at the other end, and Skorupski did well to deny Carlos Augusto from a tight angle.

After the hour mark, the visitors pulled one back through Pio Esposito. He reacted quickest to tap in the rebound after Andy Diouf’s shot came back off the post.

As the game entered the final stages, both sides had chances to add to the five-goal thriller. Andy Diouf and Lewis Ferguson both shot just wide.

Diouf eventually got the goal he was threatening. He struck into the net after Luka Topalovic played him through, denying Bologna a win against the champions.

The Rossoblu missed out on European football and finished eighth. They won just two home league matches since the start of December, drawing three and losing nine. Inter avoided what would have been a fourth defeat in their last five away meetings with Bologna, ending with one win, one draw, and three losses. They capped off the season with the same fighting spirit that helped them reclaim the Scudetto.
