FC Porto striker Luuk de Jong is set to depart the club when the season ends, according to reports from Portuguese media on Thursday.
Outlet zerozero said the 34-year-old Dutch forward has decided to return to the Netherlands because of serious family matters.
While both de Jong and FC Porto had an option to extend his contract for an additional year beyond this season, the 35-year-old has opted against it and is planning a return to Eindhoven.
The forward is still recovering from ACL surgery on his left knee in December and is not expected to feature for Porto again before his departure.
Luuk de Jong is nearing his 36th birthday and featured in just seven matches for Porto this season, finding the net once for the Dragões.
Despite his limited minutes due to two major injuries, the Dutch striker still made an impact in Porto’s title campaign, scoring the winner in a 2-1 Classico victory over Sporting during round 4 of the Primeira Liga.
