Barcelona confirmed on Sunday that head coach Hansi Flick’s father has passed away, just hours before the Clasico against Real Madrid.

In a statement, the club said: “Barcelona and the entire Blaugrana family send our condolences to Hansi Flick following the death of his father. We share in his grief and stand with him and his family during this difficult time.”

Flick, 61, is closing in on consecutive LaLiga titles with Barcelona. His side sit 11 points clear of Real Madrid with four games left, and can clinch the championship if they avoid defeat to Los Blancos at Camp Nou on Sunday.
