Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka faces a tough start at the French Open against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro as she looks to win the title for the first time. Four-time champion Iga Swiatek and 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic also received difficult draws.
Sabalenka could meet four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka in the last 16. A repeat of last year’s final against Coco Gauff is also possible in the semifinals.
Defending champion Gauff opens against fellow American Taylor Townsend. Anastasia Potapova looms as a potential upset threat in the third round.
Iga Swiatek faces a very tough path through the draw. She starts with a manageable match against Emerson Jones, but could run into Jelena Ostapenko in the third round. Ostapenko has a 6-0 record against the Pole.
If Swiatek gets past that, she may have to deal with two in-form Ukrainians. Marta Kostyuk is a likely opponent in the fourth round, followed by Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinal.
Kostyuk claimed the WTA 1000 title in Madrid at the start of May. Svitolina won her third Rome trophy less than a week ago, beating Elena Rybakina, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff on her way to the title.
Second seed Rybakina has never gone beyond the quarterfinals in Paris. She opens against Veronika Erjavec, with Jasmine Paolini a possible opponent in the last 16 and Mirra Andreeva a potential quarterfinal matchup.

Close friends Iva Jovic, 18, and Alexandra Eala, 20, will meet in one of the more intriguing first-round matches.
On the men’s side, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic is chasing a record 25th title and faces a tough challenge.
He opens against big-serving home favorite Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in a tricky first-round match. Joao Fonseca could meet him in the third round, with two-time finalist Casper Ruud a likely opponent in the fourth round.
Djokovic is on the opposite side of the draw to Jannik Sinner. Alexander Zverev, the top seed, is in his half instead.
Zverev has Taylor Fritz in his quarter again and begins against Benjamin Bonzi.
World number one Jannik Sinner enters as the overwhelming favorite to win the title and complete the Career Grand Slam. He starts against Clement Tabur.
Former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini could be his opponent in the third round, with Ben Shelton a possible quarterfinal matchup. A semifinal against either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Daniil Medvedev is also on the cards.
Gael Monfils will play his final French Open against fellow Frenchman Hugo Gaston. Another fan favorite, Arthur Fils, begins his campaign against retiring player Stanislas Wawrinka. Both matches are expected to create an electric atmosphere.
