Diane Parry, France’s final hope in the women’s draw at Roland Garros, pulled off a 6-3 4-6 7-6(3) upset over Amanda Anisimova on Saturday. The win books her a maiden Grand Slam fourth round.

World No. 92 Parry had the Chatrier crowd behind her as she knocked out the No. 6 seed. Anisimova arrived as a two-time 2025 major finalist at Wimbledon and the US Open, and a 2019 Roland Garros semi-finalist.

Parry got off to a wobbly start and dropped to 3-1 down in the first set, but then rattled off five games in a row to snatch it on her third set point. Anisimova steadied herself in the second though, getting a key break off Parry to push it to a decider.

The final set was a rollercoaster. Parry broke for 4-3, only for Anisimova to hit straight back and crank up the pressure. In the tiebreak, Parry held her nerve, surged ahead early, and closed it out on her first match point after 2 hours 44 minutes.

A PSG fan herself, Parry was just glad to wrap her third-round match before the club’s Champions League final against Arsenal kicked off.

“So happy I have experienced this match in this atmosphere, you were exceptional. It was a big day with my match and PSG's final awaiting us,” Parry told the crowd on court.

The win over Anisimova marked only the second time Parry had beaten a top-10 player in her career, and it kept French hopes alive in the women’s draw for a third Roland Garros in a row into week two.

Up next for her is world No. 114 Maja Chwalinska of Poland in the fourth round. Making her French Open debut, Chwalinska has been the tournament’s breakout story with a stunning run to the last 16.
