Andre Goransson keeps Swedish flag flying at French Open with double win...
Andre Goransson kept Sweden’s hopes alive at the 2026 French Open with a double win in Paris. He moved through to round two of the men’s doubles with Evan King, then did the same in mixed doubles alongside Erin Routliffe.
Goransson and King started the day against Diego Hidalgo and Patrik Trhac. Both teams created break chances in the opening set but neither could convert, so it went to a tiebreak.
The Ecuadorian-American pair dropped serve right at the start and that gave Goransson and King the edge. They raced to 3-0, then 5-2, and despite two breaks back, the Swedish-American duo took the tiebreak 7-2 to clinch the first set 7-6.
With mixed doubles still to come later, Goransson couldn’t afford a long battle. The second set went the distance again, but there was a silver lining - neither team managed a break despite several chances.
This tiebreak saw serve broken on both sides, but Goransson and King held their nerve. They sealed it 7-4 on their second match point for a 7-6, 7-6 win. Next up in round three are the 2nd seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten.
Goransson already took out the 2nd seeds at Roland Garros this week, doing it in mixed doubles with Erin Routliffe in round one. The Swedish-Kiwi pair are into round three now after beating French wildcards Geoffrey Blancaneaux and Leolia Jeanjean.

Goransson and Routliffe landed the key break in game nine of the first set to go 5-4 up. They then held firm despite early pressure from the wildcards to close it out 6-4. The second set was smoother - they forced breaks in the third and seventh games and wrapped it up 6-4, 6-2 on their first match point. That sets up a third-round clash with Asia Muhammad and Nikola Mektic.
