Inter held by Verona after Edmundsson own goal and late equalizer...
A relaxed atmosphere filled the San Siro as Hellas Verona grabbed a late 1-1 draw against Inter Milan. Both teams already knew their fate, with Inter crowned champions and Verona relegated.
After winning the domestic double in Wednesday’s cup final, Inter looked in no rush to take control. Instead, Yann Sommer was forced into action early, scrambling to keep Kieron Bowie’s deflected header off the line.
Inter dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances. That changed just before halftime when Andy Diouf broke down the left and cut the ball across for Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian’s effort was saved at the near post by Lorenzo Montipo.
Inter came out stronger after the break and took the lead moments into the second half. It was a tough half-minute for Verona defender Andrias Edmundsson. He first forced Montipo into a save with a toe-poked shot toward his own goal, then deflected the resulting corner into his own net.
Edmundsson made up for his earlier mistake minutes later. He blocked Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s shot and then helped Lorenzo Montipò deny Lautaro Martinez.
Inter used the closing stages to say goodbye to departing players, including Matteo Darmian and Yann Sommer. They also kept pressing for another goal.

Mattia Mosconi dragged his shot wide when looking for his first senior goal, and Petar Sucic was denied on the line by Edmundsson.
Inter were caught off guard late on when Kieron Bowie cut onto his left foot and curled a shot into the far corner from the edge of the area.

Cristian Chivu will be frustrated that his side couldn’t hold on for a ninth straight home win against Verona. The result also meant Inter missed the chance to equal their second-highest tally of top-flight wins in a single season. The point leaves Verona almost certain to finish off the bottom of the table after the final matchday. It will be back to Serie B for Paolo Sammarco’s side next season.
