Novak Djokovic will arrive at the French Open with a new head coach in place. The 24-time Grand Slam winner confirmed on Wednesday that Viktor Troicki will lead his team in Paris.
Speculation grew after Troicki appeared with Djokovic at Roland Garros on Tuesday. The two were seen on court during a practice session where Djokovic also trained with Alexander Zverev.
The appointment follows Troicki’s role in helping Djokovic secure Olympic gold in 2024.
“Welcome my friend, teammate and now coach... Viktor Troicki,” Djokovic wrote on Instagram.
Troicki reached a career-high ranking of world number 12 and currently serves as Serbia’s Davis Cup captain. He was also part of Djokovic’s support team during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where Djokovic claimed a historic gold medal.
The two Serbians have known each other since childhood and have maintained a close friendship over the years.
Djokovic turns 39 on Friday and will be making his 22nd appearance at Roland Garros, a tournament he has won three times. His 2025 season has been limited so far, with only three events played and a first-round loss on clay at the Italian Open in Rome.
