Austria Thrash Great Britain 5-2 with Fast Start in World Championships Opener
GB show fightback but fall 5-2 to Austria in World Championships return.

After earning promotion back to the World Championships, Great Britain wanted to build on their 2024 campaign, where they picked up one win before going back down.
They got off to a rough start against Austria, falling 3-0 within the first 10 minutes. Benjamin Nissner, Peter Schneider, and Paul Huber all scored in quick succession before GB settled.
David Clements and Liam Kirk pulled it back to 3-2 by the end of the first period, giving Britain hope. Austria responded by pulling away again in the second.

Schneider got his second and Leon Wallner added a fifth to make it 5-2. With the game in hand, Austria eased off in the third as they turned their focus to tougher games ahead.
