GAIS continued their rise up the table after beating Hammarby. The result meant Hammarby missed the chance to close the gap on Allsvenskan leaders Sirius.

On Tuesday, Goteborg picked up their first win of the season with a late goal against Orgryte. The two sides finished the remaining minutes of their match that was abandoned on Monday.

GAIS edge past Hammarby to extend unbeaten run

GAIS started the season with three straight defeats, but have now picked up three draws and three wins after beating Hammarby at home. The loss ended Hammarby’s six-match unbeaten run in the league.
.
The hosts went ahead just after the midway point of the first half when Ibrahima Fofana played an underhit backpass. Rasmus Niklasson reacted first, beat goalkeeper Warner Hahn to the ball, and slotted into an empty net.

Hammarby created chances through Paulos Abraham and Elohim Kabore but couldn’t beat Mergim Krasniqi. Their evening worsened with 20 minutes left when Hampus Skoglund was sent off for a second yellow card.

Ten minutes later, the 10-man side fell further behind when Robert Thorkelsson’s shot was saved by Hahn. Hahn failed to hold the ball, and Samuel Salter reacted quickly to score from the rebound.

The result moves GAIS up to seventh, their first time in the top half this season. Hammarby remain five points behind Sirius, who also have a game in hand.

Goteborg hold on to win derby against Orgryte

Monday’s derby between Orgryte and Goteborg was abandoned with Goteborg leading 2-1 after a fire broke out in the away section. The teams returned to Gamla Ullevi on Tuesday behind closed doors to finish the game, with play resuming at 39:10.

Just before the stoppage on Monday, William Hofvander had pulled one back for Orgryte after August Erlingmark and Benjamin Brantlind had given Goteborg a two-goal lead. It looked like Tuesday’s remaining 61 minutes would pass without incident until three minutes from full time.

Tobias Sana delivered a cross from the left to the far post, where Daniel Paulson met it with a looping header over the goalkeeper to level the score.

That wasn’t the end of the drama. In the 90th minute, Goteborg were putting pressure on the Orgryte box when a poor clearing header fell to Felix Eriksson. He volleyed it low into the net to give Blavitt their first win of the campaign.

The result doubles Goteborg’s points tally and moves them a point ahead of Orgryte. Orgryte have now lost three in a row and sit just above winless Halmstad.
