Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Ildemaro Vargas pushed his MLB-best hit streak to 20 games during Wednesday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox.
The 34-year-old kept the run alive with a three-run homer in the bottom of the second to put the D-backs up 3-2. It’s his third straight game with a home run. He’s now hit safely in 20 consecutive games dating back to 2025, including 17 this season.
With three more homers, Vargas will top his single-season career high of six set in 2019.
The 10-year veteran hit just three home runs all of last season. He’s already topped that with his fourth of 2026.
Vargas entered Wednesday hitting .361 with three homers and 11 RBIs. After his three-run shot, he has 14 RBIs this season and needs just six more to beat the 19 he recorded all of last year.

The Venezuelan began his MLB career with the Diamondbacks, debuting in 2017 and staying with the club through mid-2020. He then had stints with the Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates before returning to Arizona in 2021 for 18 games.
In 2022, Vargas rejoined the Cubs before finishing the year with the Nationals. He remained with Washington through 2024, then came back to Arizona last season.
