Clara Tauson has withdrawn from the Madrid Open with a new shoulder injury...

Clara Tauson was set to play at the WTA 1000 in Madrid in her first match since withdrawing from Indian Wells in late March with a back injury. However, organizers told TV2 Sport the Dane has pulled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury.

Clara Tauson was scheduled to play at the WTA 1000 in Madrid on Friday afternoon.

But the Danish star has withdrawn due to a right shoulder injury, organizers confirmed to TV2 Sport via email.

Tauson had been sidelined for just over a month with back inflammation as she worked back to full fitness. Now she’s been hit by another injury setback.

Organizers indicate it’s a new injury, as Tauson played in the doubles tournament Thursday.

Anna Blinkova will replace Tauson in the tournament.
