Roma now fifth, two points behind Juve with four games left...
AS Roma’s push for next season’s UEFA Champions League received a major lift with an impressive 2-0 win over Bologna, their first away victory in Serie A since January.
Donyell Malen has been a revelation for Roma since arriving in January, and he reinforced that reputation quickly. He scored with the first shot of the match after just seven minutes.
The Dutchman nearly had a second midway through the first half when he turned Jhon Lucumi and chipped the ball over Federico Ravaglia, but his effort rolled just wide.
Bologna finally showed some attacking threat around the half-hour mark, but Riccardo Orsolini’s firm strike was well saved by Mile Svilar.
There was no doubt Gasperini’s side were on top in the first half, and they deservedly doubled their lead in stoppage time when Neil El Aynaoui finished from close range after a superb delivery from Malen.
Bologna started the second half with more urgency and had a chance to cut the deficit in the 55th minute, but Orsolini blazed over from a promising position.

He came even closer to giving his side a lifeline moments later, when a fierce strike rattled the woodwork and reminded Roma the game wasn’t over yet.
Despite Bologna’s improvement, Roma’s first-half dominance proved decisive as Italiano’s side couldn’t break down a disciplined and organized Giallorossi defense.
Gasperini’s side were happy to sit back and protect their lead, and they were rewarded with three vital points at full-time.

Meanwhile, Bologna’s hopes of European qualification look slim. They remain eighth with just four matches left to play.
