Europa League Quarter-Finals: Igor Jesus and Unai Emery lead the charge as Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa face tough tests against Porto and Bologna.

Nottingham Forest Face Porto, Aston Villa Take on Bologna...

Nottingham Forest striker Igor Jesus is dreaming big, hoping to lead his team to Europa League glory and bring home a first continental title in 46 years. Forest may be struggling in the Premier League, but they've found their footing in Europe, and Jesus is determined to make the most of it.

Manager Vitor Pereira seems to be walking a tightrope, balancing Forest's relegation fight with their Europa League ambitions. He rested several key players for the last 16 shoot-out win over Midtjylland, showing that he's not taking the competition lightly. And it's paying off - Forest's best performances this season have been in Europe, making this a great opportunity for them to shine.

Igor Jesus, the latest addition to Nottingham Forest, brought his skills to the City Ground after joining from Brazilian club Botafogo in the off-season.

Igor Jesus, the 25-year-old forward, has been a revelation in the Europa League, scoring seven goals and topping the competition's scoring charts. In contrast, he's struggled to find his form in the Premier League, netting just three times in 30 matches this season.

“Getting to the final and winning the Europa League would be a dream come true, especially as the top scorer,” Igor Jesus told UEFA's website, highlighting his ambition to lead Nottingham Forest to continental glory.

The 2024 Copa Libertadores winner, Igor Jesus, knows Porto will be a tough test of Nottingham Forest's credentials in the Europa League quarterfinals.

“Porto have got a great team,” he said. “They've got a lot of quality. We've also got quality. We know it won't be an easy game - in fact, it'll be really tough. However, we're willing to fight.”

Igor Jesus is gearing up for a tough challenge, saying Forest will approach Thursday's first leg at the Estadio do Dragaoreally focused and looking for a positive result” to take home and defend next week.

Forest may be struggling in 16th place in the Premier League, just three points above the drop zone, but Porto are looking strong at the top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga. This contrast in form makes the Europa League matchup an intriguing one.

Nottingham Forest can draw some confidence from having already beaten Porto 2-0 at home earlier in the Europa League, thanks to goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Igor Jesus's spot-kicks. That's the only European defeat Porto have suffered this term, making it a decent benchmark for Forest heading into Thursday's clash.

Aston Villa's Europa League Hopes - Bologna's Home Advantage

Aston Villa, managed by Unai Emery, is looking to extend their 32-year streak in the Europa League quarter-finals as they face Bologna in the first leg. With their title hopes dwindling in the Premier League, the Europa League is now their best shot at silverware this season.

Bologna, on the other hand, is coming off a strong run, having eliminated Roma in the previous round. They'll be looking to take advantage of their home crowd at the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium. Aston Villa's last visit to Bologna ended in a 1-0 win, but the Italians have been unbeaten in Europe for 11 games.

Unai Emery is the man to lead Aston Villa to their first trophy since 2001, with the Europa League being their best bet. The Basque coach has an incredible record in the competition, having won it four times before.

Emery's experience and Villa's consistent European runs make them a force to be reckoned with. He's guided them to three consecutive quarter-final appearances in the Europa League and Champions League, showing his ability to deliver on the big stage.

Aston Villa captain John McGinn summed up the team's mindset after booking their quarter-final spot, saying “they want more now.” McGinn added, “We need to take it one game at a time and keep pushing on, all the way.”

Bologna, fresh off their impressive win over Roma, are looking to pull off another surprise against Villa. Their confidence is high, and they're determined to make a deep run in the Europa League.

“We face Aston Villa again, a team we've faced twice (both losses) in the last two seasons. We will be the underdogs again but we will try to surprise again,” Bologna boss Vincenzo Italiano said after the 5-4 aggregate win, which booked their spot in the last eight.

The Europa League quarter-final first legs continue, with Real Betis visiting Braga in Portugal on Wednesday, while Freiburg hosts Celta Vigo on Thursday.

In the Conference League, Crystal Palace takes on Fiorentina at Selhurst Park, promising an exciting clash. Other quarter-final first legs also take place on Thursday.

Crystal Palace vs Fiorentina is the highlight of Thursday's UEFA Conference League quarter-final first legs, with the London club hosting the Italians at Selhurst Park.
