Alaves grabbed a late point in a six-goal thriller against Real Sociedad, ending 3-3. The result extends their unbeaten run to four games, boosting their LaLiga survival chances.

Alaves got off to a dream start, scoring inside three minutes against their Basque rivals.

Sociedad's day got off to a nightmare start as Duje Caleta-Car scored an own goal, gifting the visitors an early lead. Abderrahman Rebbach's low cross was mishandled by the Croatian defender.

But Sociedad fought back quickly, equalizing in the 14th minute through Luka Sucic's stunning 25-yard strike. The ball curled into the bottom corner, and Matarazzo's side was back in it.

The first half was a goal-fest, with both teams scoring in a three-minute span. Alaves took the lead when Ibrahim Diabate pounced on a loose ball.

Sociedad quickly responded, though, as Benat Turrientes' long-range shot deflected off Antonio Sivera and into the net. 2-2, and the game was wide open.

Sociedad pushed hard before half-time, with Ander Barrenetxea's shot blocked in the box. They dominated possession in the second half, looking to take control.

Alaves, who'd won their last three LaLiga meetings, were on the back foot, but still creating chances. The game was far from over.

It was Sociedad, however, who scored the game’s fifth goal on the hour mark, as Takefusa Kubo’s inch-perfect cross was headed home by Orri Oskarsson for the Icelandic striker’s sixth goal of the season.

Alaves pushed for an equaliser with time ticking into the final 25 minutes, but Lucas Boye twice failed to convert from close range, as the hosts’ rearguard held firm under pressure.

Toni Martinez spurned another glorious chance for the visitors late on, while Sociedad were reduced to 10 men following an ugly challenge from Sergio Gomez.

Keen to make the most of their numerical advantage in the closing stages, Alaves threw everyone forward in the hope of finding a last-gasp leveller, and it duly arrived in the seventh minute of stoppage time when Boye fired a terrific strike into the corner beyond Alex Remiro to snatch a dramatic point at the death.
