James Wade was on fire at the UK Open, taking down Michael van Gerwen 10-3 in a stunning display of skill. The multiple world champion was completely outplayed, and Wade's win sends a strong statement about his title hopes.

Wade dominated from the start, keeping Van Gerwen off balance and dictating the pace.

Wade's current form makes him a threat to tournament favourite Luke Littler, who's struggled to impress so far. Littler had a tough match against Kevin Doets, averaging 93.68 to Doets' 97.22, and trailed in maximums 7-4.

Littler turned things around, finding his rhythm to win 10-5 against Doets. He kept the momentum going, beating Gary Anderson 10-5 to advance.

There was disappointment for Luke Humphries, however, as one of the sport's leading names again fell short of expectations.

'Cool Hand Luke' was beaten 10-6 by the Netherlands' Danny Noppert, continuing an inconsistent run of form.

Welsh star Gerwyn Price endured a nervy route through the draw. He edged past Ryan Joyce 10-7 in the last 16 before squeezing through a deciding-leg contest against Keane Barry, winning 10-9.

Krzysztof Ratajski's form is on the up, beating Ryan Searle 10-5. Germany's hopes were dashed as four players fell in the last 32: Martin Schindler, Gabriel Clemens, Dominik Grullich, and Kai Gotthardt all exited.

Schindler pushed Gary Anderson but lost 10-7, while Clemens was beaten 10-2 by Wade.
